Advanced Cake Decorating

Now that you’ve mastered the basics of cake decorating it’s time to expand those skills.
In this course you will learn five new borders, fleur-de-lis, cornelli lace and how to pipe a buttercream bow on your cake. At the end of the class, all students will complete a cake with basket weave and then add other decorations of their choice.
All supplies for this class are furnished. This class starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute break for lunch.
Students need to bring the following items to class:

Airbrushing on Cakes

Class will cover how to airbrush, care of the unit and types of colors. In this hand on class, students will complete a water scene that can be placed on any cake as well as a texture piece. All supplies will be provided.

 

Cost of Class: $50.00

Skill Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Asian Flair: Faux Foods

This class covers working with modeling chocolate, airbrushing, and texturizing that can be done at any level. We will be creating realistic seaweed, rice, salmon, shrimp, California rolls, roe, wasabi and ginger. An excellent addition to any cake or an edible conversation piece by itself. Try sushi from chocolate – doesn’t have a fishy taste at all.

All supplies included.

This is a hands on class. Class fee of $45

Brush Embroidery on Modeling Chocolate

All supplies for use are included in the class fee. We will be making a Modeling Chocolate flower that is covered with Brush Embroidery to create a striking effect. This technique will make your cakes stunning and can be done in advance to save time. (This class is only offered during the holidays)

This class is hands on and all the supplies are included in the class fee of $40.

Cake Pops

Students will learn about the new fad- cake pops! In class students will make three different styles of cake pops inspired by Bakerella to take home. This class is perfect for anyone who does not have much experience with cake decorating and looking to get started!

Supplies Required for Class: 6" round cake (white or yellow cake preferred), a bag of white candy melts,small can Duncan Hines or Betty Crocker of vanilla buttercream frosting, and a package of 6" sucker sticks. All other supplies will be provided in class.

This is a hands on class. Class fee of $45.

Candy Making for Beginners & Chocolate Transfers

Learn the basics of candy making to turn ordinary foods into an edible work of art. This class is great for beginners! During the class you learn how to pipe details onto suckers, paint candies, dip fruit, and turn ordinary cookies into extraordinary! Also how to decorate cakes, cookies and candies using chocolate transfers. Students will use chocolate transfers and decorate treats and cookies in class to take home.

This class is limited to 5 students per class. This class is hands on and all supplies are included in the class fee of $55.

Cookie Workshop (Seasonal)

Learn how to decorate cookies like a pro in the Cookie Workshop. Designs will vary. Students will leave with cookies so beautiful their friends and family will think they bought them at a bakery! Students will learn stenciling and run sugar techniques to decorate cookies for any occasion. This workshop caters to all skill levels and is great for beginners! 

 

All supplies are furnished in this hands on class.

Edible Sugar Gems

In this class you'll learn how to cook, store and work with isomalt. Students will use poured sugar and molds to create beautiful jewels to adorn your cake. This is a perfect way to jazz up a princess cake or add a little elegance to any cake! All the gems made in class are yours to take home. You learn how to make gorgeous edible gems that sparkle, and make poured sugar butterflies. Supplies for this class will be provided for your use and are available for purchase.

NOTE: YOU WILL BE WORKING WITH HOT SUGAR. MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER AND SIGN WAIVER TO PARTICIPATE IN CLASS.

Class size limited to four (4) students per session.

This class is hands on and all the supplies are included in the class fee of $55.

Fall & Holiday Royal Icing Flowers

In this class, students will be making a Poinsettia, Christmas Tree, Pine Cone, and a Chrysanthemum (Mum). All supplies will be provided for the class. Students need to bring a large container to transport flowers home. Class Duration: 2.5 hours.

Fondant 101

Students will learn how to cover a cake in fondant, create adorable bows, swags, and drapes in fondant.

Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee of $45.

 

Supplies Required for Class: 8" cake lightly frosted in buttercream, 2 lbs fondant, piping gel, small paintbrush, Crisco, Roll & Cut mat, gel colors, dusting pouch, modeling tools, a small rolling pin, ribbon cutter, and a small box to take home bows.

Fondant Fest

In this project class students will learn sculpting basics to create adorable little animals to adorn any cake! Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee is $85.

 

This class is hands on and all the supplies are included in the class fee. 

 

Fondant Puppy Cake

Students will make an adorable little puppy cake in class using rolled fondant and cupcakes. All supplies will be furnished for the class.

This class is hands on and all the supplies are included in the class fee of $35.

Fun with Cricut

Have you seen the new Cricut© machines used to decorate cakes? Have you wanted to try it to see how they work and if you really would like to own one? Well, this introductory class is your chance to do just that! Students will decorate a cake with designs of their choice made in class with the Cricut© machine.

Supplies Required for Class: Students will bring an 8” two layer frosted or fondant covered cake, one pound of fondant, one package of prepared gum paste and a rolling pin to class. Cricut© and cartridges as well as other necessary supplies will be provided for use in class.

Class limit of two (2) students. This is a hands on class. Class fee of $50.

Fun with Marzipan

Tired of always working with gum paste or fondant? Try something new and it tastes good too – marzipan. Students will get a recipe for marzipan and learn to mold miniature fruits and vegetables. The finished pieces will then be painted and special effects added to some of the completed items.

This is a hands on class and all supplies are included in the class fee of $40.

Fundamentals of Cake Decorating

Experience the excitement of creating a special cake or dessert for that special occasion.  The best way to do this is to start with the basics. These basic skills are taught step by step with practice time in class and encouragement for practice at home.
In this course you will make buttercream frosting, frost and fill a cake, and make impressive decorations such as drop flowers, rosettes, shells, stars and more. You will see just how easy and rewarding it is to decorate wonderful cakes and other desserts that will delight your family and friends.
All supplies for this class are furnished along with a basic kit just for you. This class starts promptly at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. with a 30 minute break for lunch.
Students need to bring the following items to class:

Gelatin Bubbles

Gelatin art is a relatively new technique that is gaining more and more popularity. Students will learn the do's and don't when working with gelatin and create lifelike bubbles that look like they can pop any minute out of gelatin!

Class size is limited to 4 students. All supplies are included in the class fee of $30.

Gum Paste Extravaganza

This is an all day workshop! Students will learn how to make life size lilies, orchids, roses, and foliage. Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee of $125.

Supplies Required for Class: One Package of Gumpaste, Small Rolling Pin, Tapered Spatula, Scissors, Small container with tight fitting lid for gum glue, Decorator brush or small paint brush, Zip-lock bags (5 small), Small container of solid Crisco, Cel Pad or Wilton Fondant Shaping Foam, Gumpaste Cutting Board, Gumpaste Tools (Ball Tool, Veining Tool), Soft Foam Blocks (Two wrapped in plastic wrap), Gel colors, Box to carry flowers home

Gum Paste Orchid

After completion of the basic gum paste class, the larger, more complex flowers will be completed individually. This big beautiful orchid will be completed in one session.

Supplies Required to Bring to Class:  Gum paste, ball tool, foam pad, cell pad, rolling board and pin, foam block for petal storage, tapered spatula and dusting puff.
**Orchid cutters available for purchase if desired.**

This is a hands on class. Class fee of $50.

Gum Paste Peony

This class is recommended for students with gum paste experience. Students will create a life sized peony in one session. Color dusts will be used to bring the beautiful flower to life. 

 

 

Supplies Required to Bring to Class: Gum paste, foam block for petal storage, tapered spatula and box to transport the flower home.

 

**Peony cutters available for purchase if desired.**

 

This is a hands on class. Class fee of $45.

Intro to Pulled Sugar

This is the prerequisite for all pulled sugar classes. In this class students will learn how to make a daisy, fantasy flower, and leaves all out of pulled sugar! All supplies are provided.

Class size is limited to 3 students per class. Class fee $70.

Introduction to Brush Embroidery

Brush embroidery is a relatively simple technique that creates an absolutely gorgeous textured look. This technique can be used on cakes and cookies covered in fondant, modeling chocolate, run sugar, and royal icing. In class, students will learn traditional brush embroidery techniques and complete 4 - 6 cookies to take home and enjoy!

This hands on class is limited to 5 students per session. All supplies are included in the class fee of $30.  

Introduction to Cake Decorating for Kids

Students will learn how to frost a cake, make a simple border, and apply fondant decorations. Students will leave with a fully decorated cake. This is a perfect class for kids ages 8 to 12. 

Class size is limited to 6 students. All supplies are included in the class fee of $40.

Introduction to Cake Lace

Students will learn about the different types of edible lace available on the market as well as get hands on experience. Students will learn how to make cake lace to wrap around cakes as well as create flowers for accent pieces.

All supplies are included in the class fee of $100.

Each student will take home a completed cake, lace mat, and jewel mold

Little Ladybug

Learn the basics of fondant in the Little Ladybug class. Perfect for beginners ages 14 & up. Techniques covered in class will include cake carving, how to cover a cake with fondant, fondant overlays & underlays, & the use of silicone molds. Each student will leave with a fully decorated cake to wow their friends & family!

 

Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee of $60.  All supplies are provided in class. 

 

Mini Purses

No outfit is complete without the perfect purse, right? What about the popular fashionista cakes? In this class, students will learn to create mini edible purses that will bring a smile to any purse or cake enthusiast. These mini treats can be served by themselves or can create an adorable topper for any designer inspired cake. 

Class size is limited to 4 students. All supplies are included in the class fee of $40.

Painting on Cakes Class

Sugar painting is becoming a hot new technique seen in many competitions. Get an edge on the competition and learn oil painting, water painting, and pen & ink techniques. These techniques add a special touch to any cake.

This class is hands on and all the supplies are included in the class fee of $45.

Pleated Fondant

Don’t just cover your next cake with fondant – create this beautiful and romantic look of pleated fabric with fondant. This class will use stencils and fondant to make a fabric looking pleat around a 6” cake.

Supplies Required for Class: 6” two layer cake or Styrofoam cake dummy covered with rolled fondant on a 10” cake base, turn table, spatula, paint brush or decorator brush, pizza cutter and one container of color dust or luster dust. All other supplies will be provided for use by students. 

This is a hands on class. Class fee of $45.

Pulled Sugar Rose

Learn how to pull a sugar rose in this 3 hour class. Students will make roses and leaves from isomalt. All supplies will be provided.

 

Class size is limited to 3 students per class. Class fee of $70.

Rose Workshop

Having trouble making the perfect rose? Come to the Rose Workshop.This is a hands on class. The class fee is only $15.

 

Supplies Required for Class: 3 cups stiff butter cream icing, wax paper squares, spatula, 2 featherweight decorating bags, 2 couplers, flower nail, tip 12, tip 104, Hershey's kisses, and a large container to take roses home.

Royal Icing Flowers

Royal icing will be supplied for this class. We will be making the following flowers: Poppy, Petunia, Daisy and Pansy.

Please bring a large box to take your flowers home. All other supplies are provided.

This class is hands on. Class fee of $30.

Sculpted Purse

Students will learn the basics needed to carve and prepare a cake to assemble like a purse. Cake will be assembled and embellished in class.

 

Supplies Required to Bring to Class:  ¼ Sheet Cake, 5 Cups of medium Buttercream Icing, Roll and Cut Mat, ¼ Sheet Cake Board, 12” Cake Base, Rolling Pin, Two (2) Pounds of Rolled Fondant, 1 bag of gum paste, gel colors, toothpicks, serrated knife, piping gel, pizza cutter, spatula, small paint brush, Crisco, dusting puff, luster dust (Optional).


Class limit of four (4) students. This is a hands on class. Class fee of $50.

Simple & Elegant Cupcakes

Learn how to create quick and easy elegant cupcakes that are great for any occasion! In class students will learn how to frost cupcakes, make fondant ribbon roses, fantasy flowers, silicone molds, and use imprint mats.

 

Supplies Required for Class: 12 cupcakes, 3 cups medium consistency butter cream icing, 2 disposable piping bags. Tip 1M, 1lb fondant, crisco, ribbon cutter, & spatula. All other supplies will be provided in class. 

 

Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee of $25.

Shabby Chic Cookie Workshop

Learn to apply the new Shabby Chic trend on cookies. Topics discussed in class will include baking tips for cookies, how to make royal icing, and different types of flood icing. Students will learn piping techniques such as dots, rosettes, bead border, and leaves. All supplies are included in the class fee. Each student will leave class with beautifully decorated cookies as well as a class kit that includes shaped cookie cutters and luster dust. 

 

Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee of $60. Supplies and kit included.  

Stacked & Tiered Cakes

Students will bring cakes and frosting to class and learn to assemble their choice of either a stacked or a tiered cake.  Cakes will be decorated in class – choice of decoration left to student.

 

Supplies Required for Class: Students will bring a 6” cake on a 6" cake board and a 10” cake on a 10" cake board to class if they want to make a tiered cake. Students will bring a 6” cake on a cake board, 8" cake on an 8" cake board, and a 10” cake on a 10" cake board to class if they want to make a stacked cake. Cakes to be frosted with buttercream or covered with rolled fondant prior to class. Students will also need to bring an 8” separator plate and 4" or 6" separators for the Tiered Cake, 12” Silver Cake Base, Packaged wooden dowels or large drinking straws, Turntable, Scissors, Featherweight or Disposable Bags, Tips of your choice, Spatula, Buttercream Icing for decorating cake – any colors need to be made prior to class. Premade gum paste or royal icing flowers, if desired.

 

This is a hands on class with a fee of $40.

Whimsical Modeling

In this project class students will learn sculpting basics to create magical fondant figurines: a wizard, dragon, and an elf. Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee of $45.

 

Supplies Required for Class: 2 lbs fondant, piping gel, small paintbrush, Crisco, mat, gel colors, dusting pouch, modeling tools.

Xtreme Dragons

Using advanced sculpting techniques, students will create a large scale dragon. Learn to sculpt using wires to create movement and a breath taking creature!

 

Class size is limited to 5 students per class. Class fee of $50.

 

Supplies Required for Class: 1 lb fondant, piping gel, small paintbrush, toothpicks, Crisco, toothpicks, small rolling pin, mat, gel colors, dusting pouch, modeling tools, scissors, small Styrofoam block, 22 & 20 gauge wire, & box to take home figure.

If you signed up for a class and cannot attend please notify us as soon as possible. Refunds will be given to students who notify AZ Cake Shoppe at least 48 hours prior to the class.
